In the history of ODI cricket, a batsman scoring a century was always considered a match-winning effort, but in the last decade or so batsmen have become hungrier. Now they strive for double hundreds and even in the 2015 World Cup a couple of stars breached the 200-run mark and at that time it was a dream score for most batsmen. In recent times, most of the batsmen are reaching mighty close to the double ton which now makes it a plausible achievement.

Since the 2015 edition, the 200-mark has been crossed twice but the 150-run barrier has been crossed 36 times which is a remarkable piece of stat. Batting records are tumbling frequently, but it shields a major problem for most teams which is their over-reliance on their top order.

There have been 13 and 9 double hundred partnerships for first and second wickets respectively in this span of time. 2019 World Cup is sure to witness some double hundreds, as most of the teams consist of heavy artillery at the top of the order.
