Rahul Dravid was caught changing the condition of the ball during the VB Series in Australia during the 2003-04 season. The incident took place at The Gabba in Brisbane during the match against Zimbabwe on January 20, 2004. Dravid was caught by the TV cameras rubbing a cough lozenge on the shiny side of the white ball.

The incident was reported to the match referee Clive Lloyd by the third umpire Peter Parker. However, the on-field umpires Steve Davis and Rudi Koertzen didn’t press any charges against him. But with the evidence on camera going against, Lloyd decided to take action against Dravid under clause 2.10 of the ICC‘s code of conduct. The coach John Wright, however, had backed him later stating that it was unintentional from Dravid.

As far as the match is concerned, he had top-scored for India scoring 84 off 106 deliveries as the team ended up posting 255 runs on the board batting first. Zimbabwe, in response, could only reach 231 before getting bowled out in the 48th over of the innings.
