5 Controversies in Rahul Dravid's career
With all the limelight comes the controversy as well and unfortunately, this man wasn't an exception to it too.
5. IPL spot-fixing scandal in 2013 when Rahul Dravid was RR skipper
The IPL spot-fixing scandal in 2013 rocked the Indian cricket severely. Three Rajasthan Royals players, Ajit Chandila, Ankeet Chavan and the 2011 World Cup-winner S Sreesanth were accused of spot fixing. And soon after the game against the Mumbai Indians, all three were arrested by the police and the captain of the team Rahul Dravid was literally shocked to know the series of events.
Rather, in a statement given to the Delhi Police, according to the Times of India, he had said that he felt cheated by his teammates while also clarifying that he never had any doubt on the players. “I never had any doubt about these players. I used to select players on a match-to-match basis,” Dravid had said in his statement.
However, the Royals’ performance didn’t affect in the tournament as they made it to the playoffs and lost to Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier.
