5. Johan Botha’s fined for showing dissent

During the dying stages of a cliffhanger, players tend to get animated. They breach the laws and consequently suffer its repercussions. In last season’s semi-final clash between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers, the latter found themselves in all sorts of trouble. The Moises Henriques-led side required 19 runs off 12 balls and only had a couple of wickets remaining.

However, Johan Botha stomped out and smashed three boundaries in the penultimate over to bring the Sixers back into contention. However, with four runs needed from three balls, he tried to play a reverse-pull off Ben Cutting but feathered the ball to the keeper.

The umpire raised his finger, however, the replay showed that the ball brushed Botha’s biceps. The South African was taken aback by the decision and objected it. Later he walked off disappointed. Consequently, he was fined $2500 by the match referee.
