2. Irfan Ahmed
Irfan Ahmed is an all-rounder from Hong Kong who has played in 6 ODIs and 8 T20Is for his team. He is a decent batter and bowls quite economically as well. In 2016, he was suspended for two years and six months for breaching the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code. Back then, it was revealed that he wasn’t involved in any corruption.
The suspension was because he failed to report the approach. However, further investigations revealed that he and his brother Nadeem Ahmed tried to corrupt several matches including those in the T20 World Cup 2016. Thus, both the brothers have been banned for life.
The ICC came down hard at them because both these players were experienced. They also attended ICC’s anti-corruption briefings but still chose to indulge in such activities. It was even informed that each of the Ahmed brothers sought to corrupt others.
