3. Pat Cummins (2018)
It was back in 2014 and 2015 that Pat Cummins first made an impression in the IPL. He featured in four games across two seasons for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In 2017, the Australian quick was bought by Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) for a sum of INR 4.5 crore.
Cummins played 12 games in that season and returned with 15 wickets. Moreover, he had a strike-rate of 145.28 with the bat. In the 2018 auction, Mumbai Indians (MI) bought him for a price of INR 5.4 crore. He was expected to play a big role but it wasn’t to be. Cummins pulled out of the 2018 season due to injury.
It was a back injury ruled him out of the entire season. However, a couple of seasons later (2020), Cummins has become the second-most expensive player in the history of the IPL auction.
