In 2011 on April 2, India won their second 50-over World Cup in the history of international cricket. Earlier this month, the country celebrated its ninth anniversary as well. However, a controversy took place on the same day when Gautam Gambhir came out with a comment that didn’t go down well with the fans.
On the historic date, a leading cricket portal shared a still of MS Dhoni hitting that match-winning six that he smacked in the final against Sri Lanka. Moreover, they gave it a title that read, “a six that sent millions of Indians into jubilation.”
After going through the post, Gambhir said that it was a team effort due to which Team India won that World Cup taking an indirect dig at MS Dhoni’. This tweet from Gambhir went viral on a social media platform and expectedly had to face the heat for his distasteful tweet on such a historic occasion.
Just a reminder @ESPNcricinfo: #worldcup2011 was won by entire India, entire Indian team & all support staff. High time you hit your obsession for a SIX. pic.twitter.com/WPRPQdfJrV
