Top 7 Cricketers who turned from rich to poor
Here is the list of cricketers who struggled to survive in their lives.
6. Chris Cairns
The Kiwi all-rounder, Chris Cairns, was once considered to be one of the best all-rounders for New Zealand after Sir Richard Hadlee. He was a powerful hitter of the cricket ball and had a deceptive slower delivery. He was a heartthrob among women and was famous for his muscular physique and curly hair.
In 2010, Chris worked in Dubai as a Diamond merchant. He had won a significant sum in a case against former ICL chairman Lalit Modi in 2012. However, the tide turned against him in 2013 when the match-fixing allegations surfaced again and it was revealed that he was in the eyes of the authorities. The costs of legal proceedings started hitting his family life and as a result, he started cleaning bus shelters in New Zealand in order to meet his financial needs.
As an all-rounder, he has nine international centuries and around 420 wickets in his career. Cairns was instrumental in NZ winning the ICC Knock out trophy in 2000 in Nairobi, Kenya with his cracking ton in the finals against India.
