2. Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell

In May 2012, leg-spinner Rahul Sharma and South Africa pacer Wayne Parnell were booked for a drug abuse case. Both these players, who represented the Pune Warriors in that season, were rounded up after a raid on a suburban hotel in Mumbai. It was alleged that drugs were being consumed in the hotel.

A 1200-page charge sheet was filed against 86 persons who were present at that party. Wayne Parnell, one of the foreigners at that party, was shown as a wanted accused in the charge sheet. Both these cricketers, however, claimed innocent.

Rahul Sharma said that he was attending a birthday party along with the left-arm pacer. Parnell, on the other hand, noted that they were only drinking and dancing. He added that it was simply a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Later, it was confirmed that both the players were among the 42 who were tested positive for the drugs.
