4. Tushar Arothe
Tushar Arothe, a former first-class cricketer from Baroda, also had to go behind the bars. He represented the Baroda team for nearly 19 years before 1985/86 and 2003/04 seasons. Arothe was the first player to play over 100 first-class games for Baroda.
Post his retirement, he took up coaching and was the head coach of the Indian Women’s Cricket team between 2017 and 2018. Allegedly, a fallout between him and some of the senior players saw him removed from the job. In 2019, Tushar and 18 others were arrested by Baroda Police on betting the IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab.
Arothe was arrested by the police for this illegal activity before he was released on bail. However, the former all-rounder denied all such charges. He claimed to be innocent and said he’d never indulge in such activities.
