Rohan Gavaskar, the son of legendary Sunil Gavaskar, was also one of the players, who didn’t get serious backing from Sourav Ganguly. He made his international debut under Dada in the VB series against Australia in 2004. He was a serious contender for the one-day team due to his first-class averages. He was quite a talented player, who had mustered 6938 runs in 117 games for his team with 38 wickets. His stats were enough to speak about his ability as a professional cricketer.

But, he got only 11 games to prove his ability before getting dropped from Team India. Sourav Ganguly preferred other players over the son of the former legendary cricketer. He was the part of Team India in the Champions Trophy 2004. But, after Pakistan knocked out Team India from the tournament, the spin-all-rounder was again dropped from the ODI squad and he never got a call up from the national selectors.

Junior Gavaskar went back to the domestic circuit and he performed seemingly well with the bat and ball for his team. But, it looked like Ganguly had already moved on with other players due to which Rohan Gavaskar was never picked in the national team. It can be said that Rohan Gavaskar’s career was shortened due to the ignorance of Ganguly. Who knew that he might have gone to become the best all-rounder in Indian cricket history.
