Roger Binny – Stuart Binny

Roger Binny was in and out of the Indian side but he portrayed his all-round skills whenever he was selected. The right-arm medium seamer had the ability to swing the ball both ways and was a useful batter in the middle order. He was part of India’s World Cup-winning squad in 1983 which will be remembered for a long time.

Roger played 27 Tests and 72 ODIs over the period 1979 to 1987 and the Karnataka lad scored six half-centuries in his international career alongside picking up wickets regularly. His son Stuart Binny represented India in all the formats and had a similar kind of role in the team as his father.

Stuart, known more for his batting skills, came into the Indian side on the back of some good IPL performances and he was expected to slot in as the all-rounder. However, he bowled one of the most amazing spells against Bangladesh in an ODI where he picked up 6/4 to record a memorable victory. He went on to play six Tests, 14 ODIs, and three T20Is for India until he announced his retirement in 2021.
