2. Jaydev Unadkat – INR 8.4 Crore
From leading India’s Under-19 bowling attack in the 2010 World Cup to being the highest bided Indian player in consecutive IPL editions, Jaydev Unadkat has come a long way. While he was a big success under the leadership of MS Dhoni, who is known to smartly use his resources, the Rajasthan Royals haven’t been able to derive any joy from this buy.
The last two editions of IPL had been a total disappointment, not only for the Saurastarian but also for Royals who have been struggling to find a place in the playoffs. Picked for 8.4 crores this season, Unadkat managed only 10 wickets at an unusually expensive economy rate of 10.66, and he has only thrice conceded less than 9 an over.
Working his pants off, as he said, did no good to him as he remained a chink in the Royals bowling armory. Having failed to justify his price in successive editions, the Royal management might start to look at altering their bowling attack and purchase a stronger bowler for the 13th edition of the league.
