351 players were up for grabs in the IPL 2017 player’s auction. Franchises seemed to have a plan for each player they wanted to buy. As only 66 players were bought altogether by the eight franchises. There were a lot of positive surprises but there were some stars who went unsold.

Some of the best bowlers of the world were not fought for by the franchises and there are various reasons to it. From high base price to unavailability for the entire season. Their experience would have come handy, but nowadays flair is more sought after than experience. Here are the top five experienced players who went unsold.

1. Marlon Samuels

This West Indian won his team a World T20 championship not so long ago. He took the mantle to himself and scored a brisk and destructive knock of 85 against England in the final of the World T20 2016.

He later performed equally well in the Bangladesh Premier League as well. Based at a mere 1 crore, given his standard, Samuels would go into any of the teams in the IPL but rather he went unsold as no franchise seemed to be interested in him.
