The Indian Premier League is the toughest and most competitive T20 tournament. To make a name for themselves, the youngsters try their best to beat the experienced one. Apart from that, the experienced players try to make a comeback in the circuit by excellent performances in this lucrative league. If the above-mentioned situations do not give you an insight into the competitiveness, well you will be surprised to know that the race to playoffs last year lasted till the final league match! The teams who were present at the bottom of the table managed to make it to the upper half of the table. Adding on, the youngsters like Ishan Kishan and Nicholas Pooran destroyed a few bowling attacks. It will be interesting to see how they perform in the upcoming season.
Talking about the players who failed last year, well, there were plenty! These players failed to make a mark on the big stage and as a result, their team had to suffer. However, few players failed to perform impressively in the IPL, but they had a good impact in the Big Bash League. Here is the list of 5 flops in IPL 2020 who did well in BBL 2020-21:
5. Daniel Sams
Daniel Sams was roped in by the Delhi Capitals for the thirteenth season of the IPL. He was brought in as the third seamer for Ricky Ponting’s squad as Rabada and Anrich were leading the bowling attack. For Sams, this was the biggest stage as he had never faced something big like the IPL. Already playing for a strong team, there was an added pressure on him to make a name for himself.
Well, it looks like the pressure got the better of him as he had a poor debut season. He was included in the playing eleven for three matches only. During those three matches, he had a poor economy rate of 9.5 and was unable to pick up a wicket. This never helped his team as they struggled during the latter half of the tournament. And, the absence of the third seamer meant that the Delhi Capitals struggled to choke the Mumbai Indians in the final.
However, Sams had a brilliant BBL season. During his recent stint with Sydney Thunder, Sams took 11 wickets in 9 matches with an economy rate of 8.51. Talking about his average, he had an average of 23.70 in the Big Bash League. For a player who had a terrible IPL season, this is a much better performance. Therefore, Sams makes it to this list of 5 flops in IPL 2020 who did well in BBL 2020-21.
