Former Australian Fast bowler Craig McDermott is another big name in the list who sent his application to the BCCI for the head coach post. He played 71 Test matches for his country, picking up an astonishing 291 wickets. McDermott was an absolute superstar of his generation who inspired many youngsters during the 80s.
One of the most successful periods of his coaching career came when he worked with Australia as the bowling coach. It was during his tenure when Mitchell Johnson’s breathtaking performance in the Ashes inspired Aussies to a 5-0 victory. In an interview with sportsstarlive.com, he said that he had applied for the Indian head coach post and said it would be an honour to serve Indian cricket.
