South Africa has always been home to some of the best fast-bowling exponents and one of them was Makhaya Ntini. Spotted by a cricket board development officer, Raymond Booi as a young boy herding cattle, Ntini defied all the odds to become a national hero. With his unique action and ability to bowl marathon spells without compromising his pace Makhaya was a lion-hearted cricketer who never let down his skipper in tough times.

Still, he is the third leading wicket-taker for Proteas across formats having picked up more than 650 international wickets. The Mdingi Express was the first black player to represent the rainbow nation and he inspired many others to take up the game including his son, Thando Ntini. The youngster was the part of the 2018 U-19 World Cup which was played in New Zealand.

Later in that year, he showed his class when he picked up a 4-fer against England in a Youth ODI game. Of late CSA handed him a central contract which shows his rise as a cricketer and now he is also a member of the Western Province in the domestic circuit. Thando Ntini is rightly following his father’s footprints and he surely looks a good prospect for the South African cricket.
