5 Highest individual scores in Test cricket
A total of 31 International triple hundreds have been scored in Test matches as of now.
It takes a tremendous amount of concentration, grit, technique, and skill set to score a hundred in test match cricket. A number of batsmen have achieved the feat on multiple occasions. Then there are those who go the extra mile and score double hundreds. Steve Smith, Joe Root and Kane Williamson have all achieved the feat twice in their test careers. Indian skipper Virat Kohli has achieved the feat a staggering seven times. But there is one milestone that any of the fabulous four batsmen are yet to achieve – A triple hundred.
A total of 31 International triple hundreds have been scored in Test matches as of now. The latest entry in the record books was Australia’s pocket-sized dynamite David Warner. Warner’s test accolades often go unnoticed because of his heroics in the shorter formats of the game. Warner has over 6947 runs in 81 test matches and averages over 48.
Here are some of the most prolific triple centuries that have been scored in the history of test match cricket:
David Warner ( 335*)
In the post-match interview after his historic knock, Warner referred to himself as “a testing guinea pig”. The reference was a good-hearted dig when the Australian selectors had called Warner an experimental Guinea pig. Warner had not played a test game and was later handed a test cap because of vacancy at the opening slot. The left-hander was primed to be a T20 specialist. A decade later, Warner is a T20 specialist with staggering numbers across formats but is also a regular test opener.
On the second day of the second Test between Australia and Pakistan, David Warner raised his bat to relish all the adoration and admiration at the Adelaide Oval as the southpaw scored an unbeaten 335 off 418 deliveries.
He had announced his return on the oldest format of the game with a marathon of an innings that saw records after record eclipse as the southpaw made a mockery of a young Pakistan bowling line up. Warner’s unbeaten 335 is now the 10th highest score in test cricket. Australian captain Tim Paine declared the innings as Warner went past Sir Don Bradman’s 334 but failed to reach his quadruple ton.
