5) Shane Warne – Nightmares
In the last decade, the Kangaroos ruled the roost courtesy of the presence of the best talents in their squad. Shane Warne was right on top of that list as he consistently changed the course of the games with his match-winning spells. The leggie was the first spinner to cross the 700-wicket tally in the classical format which is a monumental feat. In Tests, he is still the second highest wicket-taker behind Muttiah Muralitharan.
Shane Warne was a controversial figure in the cricketing world but his ability with the ball always overshadowed his bad boy image. The leg-spinner loved toppling the best batsmen of the opposition. During his playing days, Sachin Tendulkar was the best around the world and the Little Master invariably smoked the leg-spinner in his heydays.
Apart from his bowling, Warne is also known for his quirky one-liners and in one of the interviews, he told the press that he was having nightmares about Sachin’s batting. Again the media added the layers to it and presented that Sachin scares Warne even in his dreams.
After his retirement, the leg-spinner explained that his comment was taken far too seriously as he got the better of Sachin many times in his career. It was a funny rumour because how can a bowler with 1000 international wickets can have nightmares.
These rumours definitely entertained the audience and they were really funny as cricket lovers believed it without even thinking about it twice.
