5 India A players who can be a part of Indian team in 2023 World Cup
These players need to be groomed so that they can potentially play a pivotal role in the 2023 World Cup for India.
4. Khaleel Ahmed
Ever since the era of Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan and Ashish Nehra came to an end, India hasn’t been blessed with the left-arm pace bowler. The closest it came was to Barinder Sran who lasted a mere eight international matches. Thankfully, it lasted only until 2018, when Khaleel Ahmed debuted for India.
The wiry left-handed pacer kickstarted his international career in Asia Cup last year. His lightning fast-bowling action helped him enter the limelight followed up with a call-up to feature in the U19 squad for the 2016 World Cup. Much after this, he was picked by the IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). The 2017-18 season also saw him debut in all three formats for his state team.
Khaleel could have been the third seam bowler for India in the World Cup 2019 but was backed up as a net bowler for the team after the late success of Mohammed Shami with the white ball. With regularly performing and featuring in the India ‘A’ squad, he could well be back into the Indian team on a regular basis and could potentially play a vital role in the 2023 World Cup to be held in India.
