5 Indian cricketers who can play Global T20 League

Various T20 tournament officials have received a cold shoulder previously, but the Global T20 League officials have a better chance of roping in Indian players as Supreme Court’s intervention into the managerial things at BCCI has changed Indian cricket completely. BCCI has been reluctant in allowing Indian players to participate in T20 tournaments barring IPL. But with the changing dynamics of politics within the helm of the board, things might change drastically in the time to come. Most of our Indian senior players have the capability to steal the limelight in the best of T20 leagues, but a busy schedule forbids them an opportunity. The newly proposed tournament conducted by South Africa will be commencing in November. Very soon, the tournament officials will fly to India to request for the participation of Indian players. Given BCCI does grant the permission, which still seems unlikely, the main players in the national side won’t feature as they will be busy on International duties. But some other star players in the country who aren’t a part of the Indian side might have a chance of featuring in the tournament and here are five such players, who might travel to the land of Proteas and attract the Indian crowd in the region to watch the big event. #1 Yuvraj Singh Yuvraj Singh of India. Nevertheless, his ability to dig the opponent’s grave all upon his own in the shorter format cannot be disregarded, no matter how old he is. If he does not last long in Indian cricket, he can be the biggest star player Global T20 League can ever rope in. An outright legend of the game who achieved everything there is, the 35-year-old southpaw is definitely a stalwart of Indian cricket, if not world cricket. One of the most adored cricketers in the world, the organizers will take the privilege to welcome the legendary all-rounder into the tournament and this could be a marketing masterstroke as well. #2 Sanju Samson Sanju Samson, Delhi Daredevils. Barely inducted into the main team, Samson was out of the limelight for a good two years before making a stellar comeback this season with Delhi Daredevils. He notched some crucial runs and is looking better than ever before. Samson is one player who the franchises can keep an eye on, as he’s highly unlikely to get a call from the national side and will be definitely available for the entire tournament. He can hit the long ball and play the anchor as well and his versatility to adapt both in the top and middle-order can attract teams to get him. #3 Manish Pandey Manish Pandey. He recently led India A to a Tri-Series triumph in South Africa and scored a lot of runs. Pandey is the first Indian in IPL history to smash a hundred and the youngster still has a lot of good years ahead of him. He can be quite a useful outlet for any team as he is not only a terrific batter but an all the more amazing fielder. One of the most underrated cricketers of India, Pandey’s place in the Indian team is still under the scrutiny for various reasons. If there is any scope of him getting a chance to be a part of the tournament, BCCI would also consent to send him instead of keeping him on the bench. #4 Krunal Pandya Krunal Pandya. He’s a fabulous talent to reckon with and the all-rounder is pretty useful especially in the shortest version of the game. He had an incredible outing in the recently concluded South Africa tour and this proves a point that he can perform in those conditions. He has the capability to demolish the bowlers coming in at any position and that rare quality of being able to score boundaries right from the outset makes him even more special. With the bowl, the left-arm spinner is a master at preventing the flow of boundaries as his flatter trajectory makes it difficult for the batters to loft. If Indians do get a permission to play the GTL, he will definitely be heading there. #5 Basil Thampi Basil Thampi. When the tournament ended, he finished as the best young player and won the “Emerging Player Award” for his marvelous rendition. The Kerala man can be a useful player for the sides who are looking for bowlers who can bowl quick at regular intervals. He was a bit expensive in the IPL as most of the tracks were flat, but that won’t be the case in South Africa where there would be some pace assisting grass available on the pitch. The 22-year-old can work wonders if he falls in the right hands and the teams will definitely be attracted to get him in.
