The idiom “One man’s loss is another man’s gain” fits perfectly in Vijay Shankar‘s case. After being trolled for his horrific shown in the Nidhas Trophy final where he played four dot balls in the crucial 18th over of the game, Shankar was recalled to the India team after Hardik Pandya was suspended by the BCCI for his controversial comments on a television show.

The 2.0 version of Shankar impressed immediately and has produced much better performance with both bat and ball. He has shown that he can stitch the partnerships and at the same time play the big shots when the need be.

His all-round skills seem to have given him the edge above other players and is the preferred contender for the No. 4 slot in the Indian batting line-up. Though he is still new to international cricket with just 9 ODI matches to his name, the all-rounder will have a key role to play in the coming World Cup and repay the faith shown by the selectors.
