5 Indian players who might not get a chance in T20I and Test series against Sri Lanka
Given the team combination in both formats, these players might have to warm the bench in all matches.
1. Deepak Hooda (T20Is)
The 26-year old batting all-rounder recently made his ODI debut against West Indies, where he scored 55 runs and took one wicket in first two matches he played. The power hitter from Rohtak has now also been named in team India’s T20I squad against Sri Lanka.
Hooda was first picked in the Indian squad back in December 2017. However, he didn’t get a game in that series. Similarly, he was selected for a tri-series India played against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in March 2018, but didn’t find his place in the playing XI as well.
Deepak Hooda is a power hitter and will be looking to prove his worth if he gets chance. However, with Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur performing well for India in T20Is, it is unlikely that he will get a chance.
Hooda, a right-handed batsman, has so far played 141 T20 matches in which he has amassed 2,172 runs at an average of 23.86. He also has 13 fifties and one century to his name.
