2. Devdutt Padikkal
One of the best batsman going around in the domestic circuit, the 19-year-old Devdutt Padikkal hails from Edappal, Kerala and represents Karnataka. From the last couple of years, he has been a run-machine in different domestic competitions in the country.
Padikkal’s cricketing career started when he was picked by the Bellari Tuskers in the Karnataka Premier League in 2017. Next year, he was drafted into the India Under-19 squad and later that same year, he made his Ranji Trophy debut. He was picked by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for IPL 2019, only to watch the whole tournament by the sidelines. Things changed after that, though. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he was the highest run-getter, scoring 609 runs at an average of 67.66.
He also topped the chart of runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy that followed soon after, scoring a massive 582 runs in 12 innings. A stylish left-handed batsman, Devdutt Padikkal generally opens the innings but is also a cool operator in the middle-order. He is knocking the doors of the Indian team and a call-up for him may not be far away.
