India is arguably the strongest cricketing body in the world, at the moment. The nation possesses the richest cricketing board and has one of the biggest fanbases in the world. India is also the founder of the Indian Premier League, which is unarguably the greatest league of the cricketing fraternity. The domestic circuit of Indian cricket is quite sturdy too and has provided a vast range of resources to the senior team.
With so many qualities, it is quite obvious that the country will be having one of the highest number of cricketers. Howbeit, what follow such mighty features are the cons related to it. Just like every good thing has advantages as well as disadvantages, the domestic circuit of Indian cricketing fraternity is also the same.
The internal circle, which is like a double-edged sword, has undoubtedly given the sport, innumerable no. of all-time greats. But at the same time, there have also been times, when even some extremely talented players have had to suffer because of the vast availability of stratagems of players.
A number of players, who had the capability of ruling World Cricket, couldn’t get their fair share of opportunity just because of the fact that the team didn’t have any vacancy left. At times, such players didn’t get several chances also because of other reasons like rifts with higher authorities like the captain, selectors or the state association.
Here, we’ll have a look at some of those players
1. Murali Vijay
Murali Vijay was once one of the hottest properties of the Indian domestic circuit. When he made his international debut for India i.e. in 2008, the lad was seen as one of the most talented prospects of the team. However, things didn’t go as per the expectations for Vijay as he got a very inconsistent run during his initial days. Albeit, once he became a bit experienced, he even went on to become a permanent member of the team and held this feat for a long period of time.
Howbeit, Tamil Nadu cricketer has again become very inconsistent of late and has eventually been dropped from the Test team. This beginning of downfall began a couple of years ago, however, what brought further upheaval in this falling career was Murali Vijay’s statement against the chief selectors of India.
“Neither the chief selector nor any other person spoke to me in England after I was dropped from the third Test. None of them has spoken to me since. I did have a conversation with the members of the team management in England and that’s it.” The 35-year old was quoted saying as after he was dropped from the Test team after the English tour, later last year.
