Ambati Rayudu’s cricketing career has been nothing but a roller-coaster ride. He came into limelight after he led India in the U19 Cricket World Cup 2004. The lad was expected to break into the Indian team right there, however, playing the ICL, and some disputes with the state association eventually resulted in his ignorance.
Nevertheless, after displaying absolute steel in the domestic circuit during the 2011-12 season, Rayudu was finally picked in the Indian team in 2012. Although it took him a bit of time to play his international game, the 33-year-old finally made his international debut against Zimbabwe in 2013. Since then, the ace batsman’s career again became more of an elevated railway, as he kept going in-and-out of the team for the next 4-5 years. At one point in time, he even suffered an injury and was dropped from the team.
However, the Andhra Pradesh-born made a thunderous comeback in IPL 2018, which also went on to earn him a national spot. Rayudu became a permanent member of the Indian team for the next year. Although, the doohickeys didn’t go in his favor as he was dropped from the 15-man squad of India for the ICC Cricket World Cup. 
As an upshot, an angry Ambati Rayudu went on to take a dig at the selectors who had termed his replacement, Vijay Shankar, as a ‘three-dimensional player’. “Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup” the right-handed batsman tweeted after the no. 4 snubs.
After such a big fiasco, Rayudu’s hopes of getting another opportunity were finished and he eventually retired.

Wasim Jaffer is one of the most unfortunate cricketers India has ever produced. Despite being an all-time great in the domestic circuit, the 41-year old was never able to cement his place in the International team and make a name on the biggest stage. He made his international Test debut for India in 2000 but could never fix a permanent spot in the team. The veteran cricketer was always dropped from the team at regular intervals and this continued until 2006 when he hit his maiden Test century against England in Nagpur.
Since then, the Mumbai cricketer got to play a string of 24 consecutive Test games, which also witnessed two double centuries against the West Indies and Pakistan. What followed these glorious times were two bad series against Australia and South Africa respectively, which eventually made him axed forever. Jaffer, who was overshadowed by someone else on most of the occasions, scored a total of 1994 runs in the 35 Tests he played.
Another possible reason behind this unusual career of an extremely talented batsman was the fact that he had once questioned the Indian selectors for his place in the team. “Really, I don’t know how to impress the selectors. I have scored over 13,000 runs in first-class cricket and 1,260 runs in last Ranji season. I don’t think they (selectors) have taken note of it. That’s all what I can do and will continue to do to make them realise I am still good to play for India,” The Maharashtra-born had told to the media after getting dropped from the team in 2009.
