1. Andrew Flintoff irks Yuvraj Singh, 2007
The Indian fans will never forget the T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007 when the Indian team triumphed in the inaugural edition of the tournament. But there are two Englishman who will also remember the tournament, not as fondly as the Indians though.
India faced England in a must-win game in the group stages of the tournament, and the Indian opening batting pair of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag gave India an electric start after MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. India were in a strong position when Yuvraj Singh walked out to bat and were looking to finish strongly. Yuvraj hit the ground running with two boundaries off Andrew Flintoff. The latter didn’t like the Indian batters’ shots and engaged in a spat with him.
The southpaw was irked by the English all-rounder’s comments and unleashed on a young Stuart Broad by pulverizing him for six consecutive sixes in the following over. The explosive batter registered the fastest fifty in International cricket in the process, a record that still stands.
