The 2021 Pakistan Super League (PSL) started in February and was moving alone until a series of COVID-19 cases emerged in the camps. The tournament had to be postponed and later, it was learned that the remaining matches would take place in June.
However, whether the tournament happened in Pakistan or not remained to be seen. In the end, Abu Dhabi is set to host the second leg. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have managed to secure the necessary permissions to host the PSL in Abu Dhabi.
In the meantime, the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) had to be postponed as well due to the emergence of coronavirus cases. As far as cricket is concerned, a number of players, who took part in the IPL 2021, will be playing in the PSL and it goes without saying, all eyes will be on them.
In the article, let’s take a look at 5 IPL stars to watch out for in PSL 2021:
1. Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis didn’t have the best of outings in the first leg of the PSL. The former South Africa skipper managed only 71 runs from three games at an average and strike rate of 23.66 and 131.48 respectively. His top score of 37 off 26 balls with four fours and one six came against the Peshawar Zalmi.
However, he was on top of his form in the 2021 IPL, playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). When the tournament was suspended, Faf was their leading run-scorer by a country mile. The veteran scored 320 runs from seven matches at an average and strike rate of 64 and 145.45 respectively.
Though he got a duck, he made up for it with four half-centuries and a top score of an unbeaten 95. Quetta Gladiators would be now be hoping for him to carry forward his form in the PSL.
