3. 37 runs in one over
It isn’t often that we see batsmen scoring more than 20-25 runs in just one over and even the maximum number of runs that can be scored in an over are 36. Only a few batsmen like Yuvraj Singh, Kieron Pollard and Herschelle Gibbs have managed to score 36 runs in a single over.
Thus, scoring 37 runs in an over is quite special and is a record that might never be broken. Chris Gayle was the main man behind it, and he scored 36 of those, while the other run was courtesy of a no-ball from the bowler, Prashanth Parameswaran. Gayle smashed three fours and four sixes in that over.
The incident took place during the 50th Match of the 2011 campaign when RCB played against Kochi Tuskers Kerala. KTK batted first and could only put up 125 on the board, which was chased down comfortably by RCB. Gayle scored 44 runs in just 16 deliveries. The star batsman also won the Orange Cap that season as he scored 608 runs in just 12 games.
