In 2013, India and Australia clashed in the 3rd ODI at Mohali with the series locked 1-1 and the visiting team won the toss and opted to chase. India lost 4 of their top order wickets in 13 overs with just 76 runs on the board. But the calmness of the skipper MS Dhoni came to the fore as he notched up a magnificent century and unfurled himself at the death to boost India’s total to 303. In reply, Australia lost wickets at regular intervals but kept themselves in the chase courtesy a brave stand between Adam Voges and James Faulkner.

The action boiled down to the last over as Ashwin conceded only 5 in the penultimate one to leave Vinay Kumar with 9 runs to defend. The bowler started the over well and gave only 2 runs off the first two balls and it was time for the Aussies to pick up a boundary. Faulkner who was on strike thumped the next delivery from Kumar over the deep mid-wicket boundary and won the game for his country. Vinay Kumar could not handle the pressure and Faulkner prevailed in what was a tense chase for Australia throughout.
