1. Hitting sixes on the first two balls of a match
RCB were in a do-or-die position when they hosted Rajasthan Royals in the home fixture during the 2019 season. The unpredictable Bangalore rains turned up after the visitors elected to bowl after winning the toss. The game finally began at the cut-off time with each team getting only five to play. The home team began their innings with skipper Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers turning up as the openers.
Varun Aaron began the proceedings for the Royals with a fuller length delivery which Virat sent over the long-off fence. Kohli tried to play the following ball over the extra-cover region but the ball flew over the third-man fence for another maximum. With those two sixes in the bowling of Varun, Virat Kohli became the first player in the history of IPL to smash sixes on the first two balls of a match.
RCB raced to 35/0 in 1.3 overs before Shreyas Gopal took a hat-trick which included wickets of both Kohli and De Villiers. RCB finished with 62/7 in the 5 overs out of which Virat scored 25 from only 7 balls. The Royals, in reply, lost their first wicket at the score of 41 in 3.2 overs. The rain return to wash out the game and eliminated RCB out of the playoffs race. RCB needed full points from this game to stay alive in the competition.
