It started with hype about sending back players allegedly involved in fixing and corruption and within weeks, #PSLFinalLahore was trending because ‘cricket was coming home.’ I believe, Pakistani cricket and unpredictability are synonymous. I still stand by it. Who would have imagined these foreign players openly talking about going to Pakistan and fulfilling the long lost dreams of the local cricket-deprived fans? Who would have imagined that to actually happen?

The PCB undertook the task of cleaning the game, setting up high standards for themselves in the future as well as giving people around the world something to look forward to. The finale may not have been as interesting as expected, but all’s well if it ends well. Players were sent back from Sharjah to Pakistan, people became social media trolls, and Afridi retired (looks like, this time it’s for real). But amidst all the praise and critique and (Melo) drama, there were some really memorable moments.

Darren Sammy is a true Carribean by heart. You cannot stop yourself from smiling when the Windies decide to get goofy. The most memorable moment happened right after he took a stunning catch against the Karachi Kings. Immediately after the dive, he got the Peshawar Zalmis to pose for a mock selfie. And that became his signature celebration every time his team got a breakthrough. And, it wasn’t just once or twice, Sammy did the phone-less selfie action on various instances.

He was on strike needing six off the final five balls and just one wicket to spare against Islamabad United. Then came a delivery with Mohammad Sami written all over it that Elliott deposited into the stands.

While Twitteratti is intelligent and decoded that, many spectators didn’t know what to infer out of this kind of celebration. He explained to Geo News, “I don&#8217;t mind a bit of rap music every now and then. Sometimes they sign off just by dropping the mic. It&#8217;s sort of like the end of the session. Afridi has announced his retirement from the International arena various times, but this time it was a declaration. It was a heart-warming moment when Eoin Morgan ended his PSL 2017 stint by announcing that he would be giving away his kit to the children of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital. The kit was meant to be auctioned with the earnings going to SKMCH. These 20 kids were invited to the stadium with the Peshawar Zalmi owner, Javed Afridi to watch the match and meet the players of the Team.

The pictures that followed after that meant that Morgan had won hearts in Pakistan in his very first outing in the league. Morgan’s charitable and generous act was hailed by all. He tweeted, “After tonight&#8217;s game all of my kit is on its way to these brave young kids of SKMCH I hope you enjoy. Everyone at Peshawar Zalmi loves you.&#8221;

There are certain celebrations in cricket that are absolutely iconic. Dabs are a trend now, and everybody seems to be going with that trend. But, there are some old ones that you can’t get over. You’re lying if you don’t find Lala’s celebration amusing. Pretty sure, this was on the bucket list of the boys of the Peshawar Zalmi.
