2. The Mohammad Shahzad blitz:
The T10 league needed a start that could bring in new audiences and viewers to the format. And it was successful when the Afghan-boy Mohammad Shahzad went berserk against the Sindhis in the inaugural game of the season. Playing for Rajputs, Shahzad struck six fours and eight sixes in only 16 balls he faced to finish on an unbeaten 74.
The keeper’s knock helped Rajputs chase down 95 in just about four overs. Shahzad, on his way to a 16-ball 74, brought up his fifty in only 12 balls and recorded the fastest in the T10 history. The record in T20 cricket is also off 12 balls shared by three different players.
Mohammad Shahzad had a batting strike-rate of 462.5 which is by far the best in any format among the players who have faced as many balls. No player in the first edition of the T10 had 350+ S/R while scoring 25 and more runs. A couple of day after Shahzad’s knock, Andre Russell came close with a 9-ball 38* which included six sixes.
