4. Shakib Al Hasan after Bangladesh’s Asia Cup Final loss in 2012
Bangladesh’s rise in white-ball cricket has been excellent in this decade. A lot of it started back in 2012 when they reached the final of the 2012 Asia Cup. Having beaten India and Sri Lanka, they reached the final to face Pakistan.
After being in trouble at one stage, the Misbah-ul-Haq-led side batted first and could muster 236 in their 50 overs. Bangladesh had a good start but lost wickets in the middle overs. However, they kept fighting and, in the end, they fell agonizingly short by three runs.
Hence, it was heart-break for the Bangladesh side who had played excellent cricket throughout the tournament. Shakib Al Hasan couldn’t control his emotions as tears rolled down his eyes during the post-match presentation. Mushfiqur Rahim also cried a little as the defeat hurt most of the Bangladeshi players.
