The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was one of its kind. For the very first time, the tournament was conducted behind closed doors and virtual noises were played to give the fans a unique experience. As the date of the next season of the IPL is not fixed yet, the teams that failed to make it to the playoffs should have a look at those players who can make a mark on the toughest T20 tournament.

With uncertainty looming over the mega-auction, the team that desperately needs a change in its arsenal is the Chennai Super Kings. It was an off-season for the Chennai-based franchise as they were the first team to be knocked out of the tournament. Also, the retirement of Shane Watson was inevitable and hence, they must look at some of the overseas players who can fill his shoes.

As MS Dhoni is set to play for another season, it is high time to find the right man to fill his shoes. As Narayan Jagadeesan seems to be the next wicket-keeper post the Dhoni era, they must find someone to play the role of the finisher. Talking about the top-order, it lacks a batsman who can give them a fiery start along with Ruturaj Gaikwad.

In the spin department, they do have Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner who can bowl four overs of spin each. But the team will have to look for the players who can make an impact

Let us have a look at the 5 Players CSK should target for IPL 2021:

5. Hanuma Vihari

Well, this might surprise some fans, but Hanuma Vihari’s addition to the CSK batting line up can add more stability to the team. The member of the Indian Test squad is a versatile player and has impressed the critics with his all-round abilities. Hanuma was a member of the U19 World Cup-winning squad of 2012. He was included in the SRH team in the 2012 edition of the IPL and was awarded the Man of the Match because of his all-around skills.

In the very first match, he took the key wicket of Chris Gayle for a golden duck. However, his batting lacked power hitting abilities. Now, with modern-day greats like Kane Williamson scoring consistently by playing conventional shots, it is the time to give Hanuma another chance in the shortest format of the game.

For a team like CSK, his part-time bowling abilities can be used as a bowling change during the middle overs. And with the possible availability of Suresh Raina, both can bowl four overs, which will give their skipper a variety of options in the bowling department.

Being a member of the Test squad and performing well in the tough conditions, Hanuma is the batsman who can remain calm in tense situations. The batting line up of CSK looks bleak because of the lack of Indian players who are a part of the national team, and Hanuma’s inclusion might help them to strengthen their batting line up. He might be their next Subramaniam Badrinath!
