5. Moeen Ali
Moeen Ali has always been a useful candidate for England especially under the leadership of Eoin Morgan, but of late was seen missing in the T20I series against India. His position of being at number seven was eventually grabbed by Sam Curran in the entire series essentially making clear that the latter will be the one starting ahead in the T20 World Cup.
However, with Moeen Ali now playing for CSK wherein either he will bat in the middle-order or will be occupying the number seven spot, the all-rounder has an excellent opportunity to take on various roles at CSK and emerge as a match-winning prospect. It is fully certain that under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, an all-rounder like Moeen will be extensively used especially on the spinning tracks, and maybe could even open the batting.
All in all, with CSK known to use its all-rounders very broadly, a vigorous IPL season for Moeen can make his entry back into the England team. More importantly, if Moeen’s bowling turns out to handy then the all-rounder can become a tempting commodity to start for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
