3. Sheldon Cottrell
A muscular Jamaican with an awkward angle of bowling, Cottrell made headlines for himself in this World Cup by ending up as the most successful bowler for the Windies. In a line-up filled with fast bowlers up to the brim, Cottrell was the only bowler who could trouble the opposition in the beginning as well as the death overs.
He was the only bowler along with the veteran Kemar Roach who didn’t rely only on short balls to take wickets. With a slingy action, he caused problems for the batsmen every now and then. Cottrell scalped 12 wickets in 9 matches at an average of 32.66 and an economy of 5.85.
Cottrell was also exceptional in the field. His stunning catch to dismiss Steve Smith in the match against Australia won him numerous praises for his electric fielding. Cottrell played an important role in the West Indies line-up by getting wickets early in the innings and stopping the flow of runs in the end. These are the qualities one looks for in a T20 bowler and Cottrell could prove to be an excellent one.
