2. Ganeshan Periyasamy
In the 2019 edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League, Chepauk Super Gillies claimed their second title by defeating Dindigul Dragons in the final. Chepauk’s right arm pacer Ganeshan Periyasamy was adjudged Man of the Match in the final as well as Man of the tournament. While defending a lowly score of 127, Periyasamy took two wickets in his first over and 3 wickets in the last over to end with figures of 5/15.
He bagged a total of 21 wickets in 9 matches, which is the highest for any bowler in the four-year history of the tournament. Apart from his heroics in the TNPL, his bowling actions have attracted the eyes of the cricket fraternity. He has a slinging action much similar to Sri Lankan maestro Lasith Malinga.
RCB’s death bowling will once again be under the radar. Dale Steyn is at the fag end of his career. Moreover, the Indian pacers have been guilty of throwing away matches in the death last year; the scars given by Russell and Pandya haven’t completely healed yet. In that case, RCB could buy an unorthodox bowler like Periyasamy and would be hoping to bring the change in their fortunes with his distinguished death bowling fame achieved in TNPL.
