RCB fans are touted to be very forbearing as they fill up the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium with the sea of red even after suffering disappointments and heartbreaks year after year. But last season was horrible for them. RCB lost their first six games and eventually finished last in the points table. The star-studded line-up has failed to win a trophy in twelve seasons even after reaching the final thrice!

After holding a wooden spoon at the end of the tournament, a change somewhere in the management was inevitable. RCB sacked Gary Kirsten and Ashish Nehra and added the Trans-Tasman duo of Mike Hesson and Simon Katich in the coaching staff. Skipper Virat Kohli has received a lot of flak for his captaincy and choice of playing eleven, not only in IPL but also for the national team in limited-overs cricket. Kohli has been criticized for not showing enough faith in players and dropping them just after a few under-par scores.

The date of the IPL 2020 Auction has been announced. On 19th December, for the first time, Kolkata will host the bidding war. Teams have already been involved in trading the players to bolster their squads. Here we look at five players who RCB should buy in order to mend their shortcomings of last season.

1. Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan’s name is drawn in the same bracket as Bobby Moore and Martin Johnson; men who led England to their maiden World Cup title in Cricket, Football, and Rugby respectively. The left-hander took the captaincy from Alastair Cook months before the 2015 World Cup. After a mortifying tournament in Australia, Morgan redefined the English cricket and brought the World Cup trophy ‘home’.

As a part of that process, the English board allowed its players to be a part of the IPL. Morgan already has been part of three different IPL franchises. It is a rare known fact that Morgan made his IPL debut for RCB in 2010. Then he was bought by KKR in 2011 before SRH bought him in 2015. He was part of SRH’s title-winning squad in 2016. Morgan has amassed over 5000 T20 runs playing in different leagues around the globe.

Although Morgan hasn’t produced any notable performances in his IPL career, his form in the T20 Blast and his astute mind will tempt the Bangalore franchise to bid for the Irishman. As there is a possibility of either Moeen Ali or Marcus Stoinis to shift at the opening slot, Morgan could play the role of a finisher. Morgan and De Villiers threaded a couple of enthralling partnerships in the Blast playing for Middlesex. RCB fans would wish to see their camaraderie at the Chinnaswamy as well.
