In recent times, Bangladesh cricket has risen to a new level and some of the credit should go their ODI skipper, Mashrafe Mortaza. Having made his international debut almost two decades ago he has been a torchbearer for the Asian team. From leading the bowling unit to marshaling the side Mashrafe has found success in all the departments. He has represented Bangla tigers in four 50-over World Cups.

During his initial days, he was a strike force with ball in his hand but injuries slowed him down. Then he served as a stock bowler in the latter half of his career but managed to pick up close to 400 international wickets. His captaincy was also an important part as he shaped the future of the nation’s cricket by nurturing talented youngsters of the side.

The 2019 World Cup was one of the fruitful campaigns of Bangladesh in ICC events but Mashrafe didn’t enjoy his time in English summer. He bowled a total of 56 overs for a solitary wicket and was leaking runs consistently. He has denied his retirement rumors but he will not be traveling to Sri Lanka for the ODI leg owing to his injury. Very soon he will be planning to bring down curtains on his career in a home series.
