5 Players who can get maiden India call-up for New Zealand T20Is

The Indian Premier League has been a kind of talent-finding tournament for the national teams. Many players have performed well and had got a chance to represent the national teams and IPL has been consistently showcasing the young talents and it has been an amazing platform for the youngsters over the years. After the T20 World Cup, the Indian team has their next fixture against New Zealand from the 17th of November. India will host 3 T20Is and 2 Test matches. The Indian players have been put into serious workload for many months together and are affected by fatigue caused by the bio-bubble, so the BCCI has decided to rest some of the senior players for the T20I matches. The Indian team would be led by KL Rahul according to the official sources. Many young Indian players have performed well in the IPL and were not given a chance in the World Cup squad due to the experience and availability of senior players. But this series against New Zealand might be their golden entry ticket into the Indian team as the senior players are to be rested. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) Venkatesh Iyer- the name which was in the buzz in the second phase of IPL, is an all-rounder who proved his ability and changed the fortunes for the Kolkata Knight Riders campaign. He is a 26-year-old Madhya Pradesh player. He debuted in IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2021 and made their team reach the finals with his vital knocks and bowling efforts. He emerged as their key player by scoring 370 runs with a strike rate of 128.47 in 10 matches. Venkatesh has the ability to time and place the ball perfectly. He was opening the batting for KKR and bowled some useful overs too. However, he hasn’t been tested in other positions of batting but his consistent performance could give him an opportunity to represent India. 2. Harshal Patel: Harshal Patel. He was a surprise package in that tournament. This 30-year-old player’s debut is dated long ago in 2012 when RCB initially gave him a chance and he was in their squad for a long time. He was picked by Delhi Capitals in 2018 and was traded to RCB in 2021. His trade to RCB went on to create history in the first match of the season itself. He took 5 wicket haul against Mumbai Indians and was the first player to achieve this feat against MI and eventually it became the best figure by an uncapped Indian player. His fiery form continued till the end of the tournament and he went on to bag the Purple-cap, game-changer, and most valuable player of the season. His 32 wickets in 15 games became the highest wickets taken by an Indian bowler in a season of IPL. He would definitely get a chance to represent the side for his unimaginable performance. 3. He is a technically sound batter and his nimble footwork makes his batting style unique and effective. The dissolved Rising Pune Supergiants team gave him the chance to debut for the team in 2017. He was then picked by the Rajasthan Royals team and he did not have the best of seasons. In 2020, he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders. He has played 62 matches and has scored 1385 runs with a strike rate of 136.31. He was a solid batter for KKR in the 2021’s season. In this season, he played 17 matches and scored his highest runs in an IPL season of 397. He could be in the minds of the selectors to be in the place of senior top-order players. 4. Avesh Khan Avesh Khan.(Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) Avesh Khan is a Madhya Pradesh fast-medium bowler, who can offer good pace and also has plenty of variations under his sleeves. This 24-year-old player has been impressive in the 2021’s IPL season for Delhi Capitals. He debuted for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2017 and played only one match in that season. In 2018, he was picked by Delhi Capitals and bowled in 6 matches but was expensive. In 2019 and 2020 he just got to play one match each and in 2021 he got the chance to represent the Delhi Capitals team for a longer period. In 2021 he played 16 matches, and took 24 wickets, and became the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. He continues to impress the selectors from his form in the Mushtaq-Ali T20 tournament too. 5. Umran Malik Umran Malik. He represented Sunrisers Hyderabad this season. He touched 150kmph several times in his spells. In his second match, he bowled at a pace of 152.95kmph which turned out to be the fastest delivery bowled by an Indian in that tournament. He played 3 matches and took 2 wickets with an economy of 8. As a result of his express pace, he was picked as the net bowler for India’s T20 World Cup squad.
