3. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is the only batsman on this list who was not present in the Indian Test squad but was added recently. He was left out controversially from all the squads due to injury. But after playing a couple of matches for Mumbai Indians, Rohit has now been added to Test team but rested from ODIs and T20Is.
The right-handed batsman had a fantastic outing in the whites last year during the home season. He dominated the opposition teams along with Mayank Agarwal. Unfortunately, he picked up injury before the ICC World Test Championship series against New Zealand. As a result, the visitors faced many troubles in that series.
In the absence of Virat Kohli, the team management might look to have an experienced option at number four. Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal could open the innings, with Cheteshwar Pujara at number 3. Rohit, who has two centuries and a double hundred in his last six Test innings, can back them up at number four.
