Hanuma Vihari was a crucial member of the Indian squad that won the Test series against Australia in 2018-19. The right-handed batsman featured in three matches of that ICC World Test Championship series, scoring 111 runs for the team. Since he had played only a solitary Test before the Australian tour, one can say that it was a decent performance by Vihari.

Heading into the upcoming Australian tour, Vihari has much experience under his belt. He impressed the fans with his performances in the West Indies, while he scored a half-century at the Hagley Oval versus New Zealand. Vihari could form a solid combination with Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane in the middle order.

Since he has played a few Tests on the Australian pitches, Vihari would have a clear idea of the conditions now. Replacing Virat Kohli will be a massive challenge from the 27-year-old from Andhra. But his 6,860 first-class runs show that he can live up to the challenge.
