Akila Dananjaya has been a trusted spin-all-rounder for Sri Lanka for quite long now. He has established himself as a force in all three formats of the game. However, this hasn’t been the case in the IPL. Very few people know that he was a part of the CSK squad in 2013, who bought him for 12 lakhs.

However, he didn’t feature in any games due to a variety of reasons. Firstly, he wasn’t a renowned player at that time. Moreover, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin were also at their peak form then, thereby filling the all-rounders’ slot.

Dananjaya got to play his maiden game in 2018 for Mumbai Indians. He went for 47 runs in his 4 overs, making that his first and the last game. However, the Lankan can expect to get more chances this time, since he has impressed in the World Cup and the recent games.
