In the 13th match of the season, Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced Royal Challengers Bangalore (RR) in Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium. Rajasthan posted a fighting total of 169 runs, thanks to a brilliant 70 (47) by Jos Buttler, followed by Hetmyer’s 42 (31). Although Rajasthan failed to defend the total, Chahal, who was facing his former teammates, was extraordinary with the ball. He returned with figures of 2/15 in his four overs.

The 31-year-old leg spinner took important wickets in Faf du Plessis and David Willey and was also involved in the run-out of his former captain Virat Kohli. Chahal has in superlative form this season, picking up 11 wickets in four games at an average of below 10. He is currently the highest wicket-taker in the ongoing edition of IPL.

However, RCB not retaining Chahal raised many eyebrows. The leg-spinner has always been among the wickets for the Bangalore franchise, giving them crucial breakthroughs. He has taken a total of 139 wickets for RCB across eight seasons. His best season was in 2015 when he scalped 23 wickets in 15 matches.
