4. Dinesh Karthik
The elegant right-handed batter from Tamil Nadu is well known for his exploits against Bangladesh in the Nidahas Trophy finals in 2018. He also had his moments in the Indian Premier League, but his overall record in the competition isn’t particularly impressive. He underperformed in most games, which led to him playing for six different franchises, including DD, MI, KXIP, RCB, GL, and KKR.
In 2013, he won his only IPL trophy while playing for the Mumbai Indians. Then, he was an integral part of the Gujarat Lions setup and was released ahead of the 2018 mega auction. Karthik was bought by KKR in 2018 and named the franchise’s captain. From 2018 to 2020, he captained the Kolkata Knight Riders before handing over the captaincy to Eoin Morgan in the middle of the IPL 2020.
Often regarded as an excellent finisher in the death overs, Karthik still has the ability to play competitive cricket in the IPL. He is a brilliant wicketkeeper and is still fit despite being 36 years of age. He should definitely evoke interest in the franchise because of his multidimensional ability and he performs the most difficult role in T20 cricket, i.e., the role of a finisher.
