Since its initiation, the extravaganza of IPL fails to curb down. With every passing year, the glamour and competition in the cash-rich league have soared and it is now considered as the biggest domestic T20 tournament across the globe. After its successful first season, IPL has set a benchmark for every domestic league in the world due to its quality of players, profits and nail-biting thrillers.

Over the years, many players have dazzled on the IPL stage by delivering match-winning performances. From being unknown before the start of IPL to becoming a fan-favourite by the end of the tournament– many players have experienced the joy of becoming an overnight sensation by delivering scintillating performances either with the bat or the ball.

However, on the other hand, there exists a set of players too who are considered lucky to be a part of this prestigious tournament. Few players, after failing to deliver consistent performances for their respective franchises, continued to get opportunities as franchises entrusted them.

There are a few players too who tasted success after switching franchises. Donning a different coloured jersey paved way for their success in the cut-throat competition of the tournament. Over the years, these players were tagged as ‘lucky’ by fans for the amount of success they achieved while playing in the Indian Premier League.

1. Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh is considered lucky as he has represented the two most successful franchises in the history of IPL– Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The off-spinner has tasted success in the league while donning the jersey of both teams as he as lifted IPL trophies with both teams.

Bhajji was an integral part of the Mumbai Indians franchise and led them to their first T20 title in 2011 when they defeated RCB in the final of the Champions League T20. Moreover, his India career also flourished by delivering consistent performances in the Indian Premier League.

After winning three IPL titles with MI, Harbhajan paved his way to Chennai Super Kings and lifted the silverware yet again. After donning the CSK colours in the eleventh edition of the league and playing under Dhoni’s captaincy, Harbhajan lifted his fourth IPL trophy in 2018.

His IPL record has been impressive too. In 160 matches, he has scalped 150 wickets including a four-wicket and a five-wicket haul. He also has the potential to provide vital contributions with his willow and is touted to be a vital part of CSK’s set up in IPL 2020.
