Australian bowling all-rounder, Jhye Richardson was another surprising casualty in the IPL 2018 auction, where he failed to acquire a buyer even at a base price of INR 50 lakhs. The 21-year-old, who’s been mocked for his short height compared to that of an average fast bowler, has proved all his critics wrong in the past by clocking up a consistent speed of 145 kmph. What brought the limelight to rest on him was his impressive performances in the JLT Sheffield Shield for Western Australia.

Playing in the Sheffield Shield, Richardson ended up with 17 wickets in just 4 games, at 26.29, making him an immediate catch for any short format team. His stint also earned him a national call-up in ongoing Australia vs South Africa Test tour. Currently, he has 2 international wickets to his name off just 2 games. Considering the fact that he was drafted into the Australian side as a possible replacement to Mitchell Starc or Pat Cummins if they had to bow out for some reason, KKR would be likely to scrutinize the youngster very closely and consider giving him a shot.
