The second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) promises to be a bigger and a grander affair than the inaugural edition. A host of new players have signed up for the league. Needless to say, the tournament is expected to see some great action of cricket over a couple of weeks. The domestic and the international stars get under one roof as the five franchises fight for the ultimate glory.

Islamabad United will start their title defense as they take on Peshawar Zalmi in the first match of the season. The key highlight of this edition of PSL is the inclusion of many new names in the player drafts. Hence, the charm is bound to rise. A couple of franchises have named their new recruits with top positions like the captain of the side too.

While there are many debutants who will get a chance to ply their trade this season, there are a few who are sure to hog most of the limelight. This comes as a result of previous past exploits in the shortest format of the game. Here we pick the top 5 PSL debutants to watch out for:

The former New Zealand skipper continues to rule the hearts of the fans despite having retired from the international format. He continues to be a nightmare for the bowlers in the shortest format. He was recently seen leading the Brisbane Heat in the 6th edition of the Big Bash League. It comes as no surprise that he was one of the most followed players in the 6th edition of the BBL.

McCullum did not let down with his batting either. He finished as the top scorer for his team in this season and the fourth-highest overall. He amassed 323 runs in 8 matches at an average of 46.14. His strike rate was 170.89, next to only Chris Lynn among the top 10 batters in the tournament. In the PSL, he is all set to lead the Lahore Qalandars in the second edition.
