5 reasons Australian batsmen should be beware of Indian bowlers in the semi-finals: Indian bowlers have dismissed every team they have faced so far in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, taking 70 wickets in 7 matches. Australia might have a better pace attack on paper, but India’s pacers have been more effective and destructive. Also India has the best spin attack in World Cup 2015 with Ashwin and Jadeja both being effective. The attack is totally different from the one that played in the tri-series preceding the World Cup. Here are the 5 bowlers who can cause Aussie batsmen some real trouble. 1. He has led the pace attack with great confidence and ability. Shami has swung the ball, used the bouncers to the max and has also bowled yorkers to pick up the maximum wickets for India in this World Cup. Australia will look forward to attack him using Warner and Finch so that he doesn’t get into any rhythm and both the openers can then milk him for runs, because if he gets into a rhythm, Shami has been and will be the wicket taking bowler for India. And if Shami gets either Warner or Finch or both out in the first 10 overs, Australia will be in a bit of bother and India will get the control of the game. 2. His job is to intimidate the opposition batting with pace, bounce and swing. Umesh has bowled with speeds over 145 kmph regularly and picked 4 wickets against Bangladesh to ensure a win for India. If he can do what Australian bowlers do to other batsmen, be rest assured, Warner, Smith and co. will attack him in order to remove him from the attack. But Yadav’s main role will be to remove the openers or at least intimidate them. Australians can use his wayward bowling style to score some runs off him by attacking him from the onset of the match. Once his confidence is dented, Yadav tends to over compensate for his mistakes, resulting in him bleeding runs. 3. R.Ashwin: R. He has not only stemmed the flow of runs, but Dhoni has bought him in the power play overs to pick up wickets. Ashwin has bowled as a wicket-taking bowler rather than containing the batsmen. And that has resulted in Ashwin picking wickets at regular intervals for India. Given the Aussie susceptibility to spin, Ashwin can be the ace of the pack for India. Australia can do nothing more than play him out and not give him the wickets he wants to build up pressure of Australian batting. Because if he picks up 1 or 2 wickets, he can easily grab the moment with Jadeja at the other end and run through the side in matter of overs. The most exciting battle will be seen on the field between Ashwin and Maxwell who has repeatedly unsettled the Tami Nadu spinner with his innovative reverse sweeps, switch hits and slog sweeps. Dhoni has called him to bowl if he needs wickets, if he wants to stop the runs or just to build pressure and Mohit has delivered every single time. Mohit has also worked on increasing his pace and now bowls constantly around 140 kmph, giving his swing and seam that extra zip that was missing. His disconcerting line and length could very well trouble the Australian batsmen who look to score runs freely. He can very well be the trump card, Dhoni would want to use against big hitters like Maxwell and Faulkner in the end overs. The only thing Australians can do to upset his rhythm is attack him mercilessly. By doing so, it would make Dhoni think twice before bringing him back again and Aussies might get a chance to breathe it easy. 5. Ravindra Jadeja: Ravindra Jadeja has been quiet in this World Cup. He came into his own in the last 2 matches providing valuable back up and support to Ashwin and even Raina some times. His fast and dart like deliveries keep the run rate in control, while when he does decide to bowl slow, he easily turns the ball and picks up wickets. But that doesn’t seem to be his role, his role is to keep thing and batsmen quiet and not give away runs. Also bowl his overs at the speed of light, so that the game moves on quickly. He is the only bowler who has not picked up wickets and is low on confidence, making him prime candidate for being the target of attack of Australian batsmen. Warner, Maxwell, Smith and Clarke could target him specifically and try to score runs of him, while they can. But Jadeja has enough experience to cope with it and will surely find a way out with skipper Dhoni’s help.
